BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (Interstat) — Eastern Illinois defeated Gardner-Webb 21-7 on Saturday in an NCAA Football Championship Division game at Ernest W. Spangler Stadium, where attendance was 1,517. The Panthers improved to 2-4, while the Runnin Bulldogs fell to 2-5. Eastern Illinois scored seven points in the second quarter and 14 in the third. Gardner-Webb scored seven in the third. Lan Farmer completed 12 of 21 passes for 96 yards, ran 15 times for 58 yards and scored for Gardner-Webb. Tye Holsey, Preston Hamilton, Tre Yanez and Cahari Haynes each recorded six tackles for Gardner-Webb. Kory Jones caught a 37-yard touchdown pass for Gardner-Webb. Andrew Bontekoe punted seven times for 279 yards for Gardner-Webb. Charles Kellom ran 33 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns for Eastern Illinois. Lonnie Burt made 10 tackles for Eastern Illinois, and Aidan Archibald added five tackles and a sack. Jerry Addo-Boateng had four tackles and an interception for Eastern Illinois.
