PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Interstat) — Rutgers will host Howard on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, N.J., in an NCAA Football Bowl Division game. Rutgers is 0-3, and Howard is 1-2. The Bison have lost two straight games, and the Scarlet Knights have lost three straight games to open the season.

Howard fell 55-0 at Indiana on Sept. 12. Ja’Shawn Scroggins completed 8 of 15 passes for 43 yards. Isaiah Freeman completed 2 of 5 passes for 1 yard. Billy Roberson II carried seven times for 14 yards and recorded one tackle. Howard lost 28-21 to Richmond on Sept. 5 and beat Alabama A&M 31-24 on Aug. 29.

Scroggins is a player to watch for Howard. Against Richmond, he completed 9 of 28 passes for 109 yards, ran 12 times for 39 yards and scored one touchdown. Against Alabama A&M, he completed 19 of 36 passes for 315 yards, ran 15 times for 49 yards and accounted for three touchdowns.

Rutgers lost 42-35 to Southern California on Sept. 19. Dylan Lonergan completed 18 of 36 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns and ran six times for 27 yards. Antwan Raymond ran 21 times for 122 yards and caught three passes for 39 yards and one touchdown. Jakob Anderson had one punt for 70 yards. Rutgers also lost 28-21 at Boston College on Sept. 11 and fell 37-21 to Massachusetts on Sept. 3.

Lonergan is a player to watch for Rutgers. He has passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns in the Scarlet Knights’ most recent game. Rutgers has scored at least 21 points in each of its first three games. Howard has allowed 55 points in its most recent game.

The game is set for SHI Stadium. Rutgers continues nonconference play before hosting Indiana on Oct. 3. Howard returns to action at Hampton on Oct. 3. Howard’s upcoming schedule includes Penn on Oct. 10, Morehouse College on Oct. 17, Morgan State on Oct. 24, North Carolina Central on Oct. 31, South Carolina State on Nov. 5, Delaware State on Nov. 14 and Norfolk State on Nov. 21.
