BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Interstat) — Luke Yoder rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, and Lehigh defeated Dartmouth 24-20 on Saturday at Goodman Stadium in a NCAA Football Championship Division game.

Lehigh improved to 4-0 while Dartmouth fell to 0-1.

Yoder, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back from Palm Harbor, Florida, scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 2-yard run with 8:41 remaining in the fourth quarter. His second touchdown gave the Mountain Hawks a 24-20 lead after Dartmouth had taken a 20-17 advantage on Myles Craddock’s 2-yard run at the end of the third quarter. Yoder finished with 27 carries for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and he also caught two passes for 15 yards.

Dartmouth’s Grayson Saunier completed 17 of 30 passes for 262 yards and one touchdown, and he added eight carries for 21 yards. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback from Lafayette, Louisiana, connected with Ky’Dric Fisher on a 33-yard touchdown pass with 35 seconds left in the second quarter to pull the Big Green within 14-13 at halftime.

Lehigh’s Derek Morgan completed 10 of 13 passes for 73 yards and one touchdown, and he rushed seven times for 35 yards. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound quarterback from Goddard, Kansas, found Nick Palumbo for a 13-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Palumbo finished with six receptions for 52 yards.

Owen Zalc, Dartmouth’s 5-foot-10, 155-pound kicker from Cary, North Carolina, made field goals of 49 and 50 yards. He also converted both of his extra-point attempts. Luke Armistead, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound punter from Brentwood, Tennessee, had one punt for 48 yards.

Lehigh’s Connor Poole, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound kicker from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, made a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter and had two punts for 98 yards. He also made all three of his extra-point attempts.

The Mountain Hawks opened the scoring on Yoder’s 1-yard run with 8:29 left in the first quarter. Dartmouth answered with Zalc’s 49-yard field goal at the 4:54 mark. Zalc then hit a 50-yard field goal with 13:10 remaining in the second quarter to make it 7-6. Morgan’s touchdown pass to Palumbo with 4:09 left in the second quarter extended Lehigh’s lead to 14-6. Saunier’s 33-yard strike to Fisher with 35 seconds remaining cut the deficit to 14-13 at the break.

In the third quarter, Poole’s 27-yard field goal gave Lehigh a 17-13 lead with 6:38 remaining. Dartmouth responded when Craddock scored on a 2-yard run with two seconds left in the quarter, and Zalc’s extra point gave the Big Green a 20-17 advantage. Yoder’s second touchdown run with 8:41 left in the fourth quarter put Lehigh ahead for good. Dartmouth had one final possession but could not convert.

For Dartmouth, Craddock finished with 13 carries for 33 yards and one touchdown, and he caught one pass for 7 yards. Jacob Henry added five carries for 9 yards. Colin O’Garro caught two passes for 2 yards. Nick Lemon led the receivers with five catches for 102 yards. Fisher had four receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown. James Elliott caught one pass for 24 yards, Ian Scott had one catch for 19 yards, Kyle Meier had two catches for 13 yards, and Jason Bish had one catch for 7 yards.

For Lehigh, Trey Tremba rushed five times for 21 yards, and Aaron Crossley added five carries for 19 yards. Joseph Marranca caught one pass for 5 yards, and Anthony Feaster had one reception for 1 yard. Jamaire Harden returned one kickoff for 19 yards.

Defensively for Lehigh, William Parton recorded 10 tackles. Luke Denny had seven tackles, and Jackson Dowd added six tackles and one quarterback hurry. Jadin Nelson had four tackles. Lucas Manderbach had three tackles and one sack. DJ Brown had three tackles and one interception. Nick Peltekian had a 4-yard punt return and three tackles. Dayyan O’Neal, Cole Hughes, Lorenzo Portella, and Aidan Williams each had two tackles. TJ Hill, Ignatious Williams, Tre Meadows, Davis Rice, Luke Reilly, and Preston Davis each had one tackle. Josh Lenart had three tackles.

For Dartmouth, Steve Simpkins Jr. recorded 10 tackles. Cameron Best-Alston, Harrison Keith, and Joshua Johnson each had six tackles. Taylor Faalele and Niquis Ratcliff each had four tackles. Jackson Ashford had four tackles. Gavin King had one tackle. Matisse Brosseau had one tackle.

Lehigh entered the game having won its previous three contests. The Mountain Hawks defeated William & Mary 44-20 on September 12, Georgetown 45-14 on September 5, and Holy Cross 35-10 on August 29. Dartmouth was playing its season opener.

Dartmouth will host Monmouth on Saturday, September 26. Lehigh will travel to Penn on Saturday, September 26.

In pregame projections, Interstat’s game simulator had projected a final score of Dartmouth 25, Lehigh 20. Interstat’s ELO system had projected Lehigh with an 84.7 percent probability to win. Dartmouth had been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of +16.5. The total score of 44 went over the over/under line of 50.5.
