DAVIDSON, N.C. (Interstat) — Elon struck first and cruised to a 38-0 victory over Davidson on Sept. 5 at Richardson Stadium. The Phoenix scored 3 points in the opening quarter, and Luke Barnes connected from 39 yards for the only points in the quarter. Elon took control with 21 points in the second quarter, added a touchdown in the third and closed with another in the fourth. The Phoenix moved to 2-0 while Davidson fell to 0-2. The Wildcats missed field goals of 24 and 43 yards in the first half. Casey Bullock, Davidson’s quarterback, completed 13 of 32 passes for 174 yards and rushed eight times for 13 yards. Elon quarterback Brady Stober completed 5 of 12 passes for 52 yards. Andrew Frazier had four catches for 20 yards and three carries for 2 yards for Davidson. Ayden Bell recorded seven tackles and one quarterback hurry for the Wildcats. Connor Dunn punted three times for 135 yards for Elon. Davidson’s Hudson Altenburg added seven tackles. Elon’s defense limited Davidson to no points despite the Wildcats’ attempts to get on the board.
