Navy at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — A pair of 8-win teams will clash on Thanksgiving night when the Navy Midshipmen visit the Memphis Tigers at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

Navy (8-2) enters Thursday’s contest riding high after a thrilling 41-38 victory over South Florida on Nov. 15. The Midshipmen’s unique triple-option offense was on full display, with quarterbacks Blake Horvath and Braxton Woodson combining for 163 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while running back Eli Heidenreich added 146 receiving yards.

The Tigers (8-3) look to rebound after a 31-27 road loss to East Carolina in their last outing. Memphis quarterback Brendon Lewis passed for 209 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 61 yards in the defeat, while running back Sutton Smith broke loose for 109 rushing yards and a score.

Despite Navy’s superior record, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 31-25 victory for Memphis. The Midshipmen have been installed as a pregame underdog with a spread of +5.5. The over/under is set at 59.5.

The game serves as the final regular-season test for both squads before Navy concludes its season against Army on Dec. 13.
