Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Prairie View

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Prairie View A&M team will look to continue its push for the postseason when it hosts an Arkansas-Pine Bluff squad seeking to salvage its season on Saturday at Panther Stadium.

The Panthers (7-3) enter the contest riding high after a dominant 48-5 road victory over Alabama A&M last Saturday. Quarterback Cameron Peters was nearly flawless, throwing for 394 yards and five touchdowns while adding 36 yards on the ground. The win kept Prairie View in the thick of the Southwestern Athletic Conference title race.

The Golden Lions (3-6), meanwhile, are coming off a heartbreaking 31-28 home loss to Florida A&M. Quarterback Christian Peters put up strong numbers in the defeat, passing for 333 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a third loss in their last four games.

The matchup features a stark contrast in momentum. Prairie View has won four of its last five, with its only blemish a narrow three-point loss to Alabama State. Arkansas-Pine Bluff has struggled for consistency, sandwiching a 40-point outburst against Southern between a series of close defeats and lopsided losses.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Panthers are projected to outscore the Golden Lions 42-30. The game will be the final home contest of the season for Prairie View before it closes the regular season at home against Mississippi Valley State. Arkansas-Pine Bluff will travel to Alabama State next week.
