Southeast Missouri State at Gardner-Webb
SHELBY, N.C. (Interstat) — Gardner-Webb looks to become bowl-eligible as it hosts Southeast Missouri State in a non-conference matchup Saturday at Ernest W. Spangler Stadium.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs (5-4) are coming off a 27-21 road loss to Tennessee Tech. In that game, running back Quasean Holmes rushed for 130 yards on 31 carries, providing a consistent ground attack for an offense that also saw quarterback Cole Pennington throw for 167 yards and a touchdown.
The visiting Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (3-6) are looking to snap a two-game skid after falling 23-17 to Charleston Southern last Saturday. Quarterback Jax Leatherwood threw for 274 yards and a touchdown in the loss, while running back Cole Ruble scored a touchdown on a kick return.
Gardner-Webb holds the edge in the standings and will have home-field advantage. The Runnin’ Bulldogs have shown offensive firepower this season, including a 48-point performance against Lindenwood. Southeast Missouri State’s defense, which allowed 42 points to Tennessee Tech two weeks ago, will be tested.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest projects to be a high-scoring affair, with Gardner-Webb narrowly prevailing, 40-36.
Kickoff is set for Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
