South Dakota State at South Dakota
VERMILLION, S.D. (Interstat) — The annual in-state rivalry between South Dakota State and South Dakota resumes Saturday when the Jackrabbits visit the Coyotes at the DakotaDome.
South Dakota State (7-2) enters the contest looking to rebound from a 24-12 home loss to Indiana State last Saturday. The Jackrabbits’ offense, which saw quarterbacks Luke Marble and Jack Henry combine for 251 passing yards in the loss, will aim to rediscover its form after being held under 35 points for just the third time this season. Prior to the setback, South Dakota State had won five of its last six, including decisive victories over Murray State and Northern Iowa.
The Coyotes (6-4) are riding momentum from a 26-21 win over North Dakota. Quarterback Aidan Bouman threw for 173 yards and a touchdown, while running back L.J. Phillips Jr. rushed for 106 yards and a score in the victory. South Dakota has won three of its last four games, with the lone loss in that stretch a 21-13 defeat to Illinois State.
The Interstat game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, favoring South Dakota State 39-31. The Jackrabbits hold the overall series lead, but the Coyotes will look to leverage their home-field advantage in one of the FCS’s most heated rivalries.
