Incarnate Word at Northwestern State

NATCHITOCHES, La. (Interstat) — Two Southland Conference teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Incarnate Word Cardinals visit the Northwestern State Demons at Turpin Stadium.

Incarnate Word (3-6) enters on a high note after a 24-17 home victory over Lamar last Saturday. Quarterback EJ Colson was efficient, completing 21 of 28 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 17 yards on the ground. Receiver Josh Lorick was his primary target, hauling in eight catches for 90 yards and a score.

The win snapped a three-game skid for the Cardinals, who had previously surrendered 50 or more points in consecutive losses to UT Rio Grande Valley and Texas A&M-Commerce.

Northwestern State (1-8) is mired in a seven-game losing streak and is coming off a 50-3 road loss to McNeese State. The Demons’ offense has struggled mightily, having been shut out three times this season. Their lone victory was a 20-10 win over Alcorn State to open the season on Aug. 28.

Despite the records, a high-scoring affair is projected. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 42-36 victory for the visiting Cardinals.

Kickoff is set for Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
