Southern Utah at Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. (Interstat) — Two teams riding high on offense will meet Saturday when Eastern Kentucky hosts Southern Utah in a matchup of .500 squads looking to build late-season momentum.

Both the Colonels (4-5) and Thunderbirds (4-5) are coming off decisive victories. Eastern Kentucky rolled past Central Arkansas 34-13 last Saturday, powered by quarterback Myles Burkett, who accounted for four touchdowns and threw for 209 yards. Southern Utah enters with a two-game winning streak after a 33-17 victory over Austin Peay, fueled by a 155-yard rushing performance from running back Joshua Dye.

The game at Roy Kidd Stadium pits two teams with identical records but contrasting strengths. The Thunderbirds’ ground game, led by Dye, will challenge a Colonels defense that has been stout at home, allowing an average of just 17 points in their last three home contests. Eastern Kentucky’s offense, however, has shown explosive potential, scoring 34 or more points in three of its four wins.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Eastern Kentucky is projected to win a high-scoring affair, 40-33. The outcome could hinge on which team’s offensive strength prevails: Southern Utah’s potent rushing attack or Eastern Kentucky’s balanced offense led by Burkett.
