Jacksonville State at UTEP

EL PASO, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Jacksonville State team visits a struggling UTEP squad in a non-conference matchup Saturday at the Sun Bowl.

The Gamecocks (5-3) enter on a three-game winning streak, most recently edging Middle Tennessee 24-21 on Oct. 29. Jacksonville State’s offense has found its rhythm, utilizing a two-quarterback system with Caden Creel and Gavin Wimsatt, alongside running back Cam Cook, who rushed for 105 yards in the last outing.

Conversely, the Miners (2-6) have lost four straight, including a 33-20 loss to Kennesaw State on Oct. 28. UTEP quarterback Skyler Locklear accounted for two touchdowns in that defeat, but the team has struggled to find consistent success.

Despite the divergent records, UTEP has been installed as a slight 1.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 49.5 points. A projection from Interstat, however, forecasts a high-scoring affair with Jacksonville State winning 41-31.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
