Oregon Holds Off Iowa in Defensive Struggle
IOWA CITY, Iowa (Interstat) — Oregon held off a late Iowa rally to escape Kinnick Stadium with an 18-16 victory on Saturday. The Ducks built an 18-7 lead, powered by a first-quarter safety and a 19-yard touchdown run from Dierre Hill Jr., before the Hawkeyes mounted a fourth-quarter comeback. Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski scored on a 3-yard run with 1:51 remaining, but a failed two-point conversion kept the Hawkeyes from tying the game. Oregon running back Noah Whittington rushed for 118 yards in the win. The Ducks improved to 8-1 while Iowa fell to 6-3.
