Kent State at Ball State
MUNCIE, Ind. (Interstat) — Two teams with identical records and mirroring momentum will meet Wednesday night when the Kent State Golden Flashes visit the Ball State Cardinals at Scheumann Stadium.
Both teams enter the Mid-American Conference matchup at 3-5. Kent State (3-5, 2-2 MAC) is riding high after a 24-21 home victory over Bowling Green on Oct. 25. Quarterback Dru DeShields led that effort, accounting for a touchdown, while running back Gavin Garcia added a 53-yard rushing score.
Conversely, Ball State (3-5, 2-2) is looking to rebound from a 21-7 road loss to Northern Illinois on the same date. Cardinals quarterback Kiael Kelly provided a bright spot in the defeat, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the divergent recent results, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 36-22 victory for the home-standing Cardinals. The betting markets, however, tell a different story, installing Kent State as a 2.5-point favorite. The over/under for the contest is set at 45.5 points.
The game will be a test of Kent State’s resurgent offense against a Ball State team seeking to rediscover its form after a convincing 42-28 win over Akron on Oct. 18 was followed by the offensive struggle at Northern Illinois.
