Samford at Wofford
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — Two Southern Conference teams seeking to salvage their seasons will meet Saturday when the Wofford Terriers host the Samford Bulldogs at Gibbs Stadium.
Both teams enter the Nov. 1 contest on losing streaks. Samford (1-7) is reeling from a 49-13 home loss to Chattanooga last Saturday. The Bulldogs’ offense struggled, utilizing two quarterbacks, Charlie Gilliam and Brady Stober, who combined for 224 passing yards. Their lone win this season was a 24-22 victory at VMI on Oct. 18.
Wofford (2-6) is coming off a 14-10 road loss to East Tennessee State. Despite the defeat, the Terriers’ ground game showed promise, with running backs Gerald Modest (80 yards) and Ihson Jackson-Anderson (75 yards) finding success. Wofford’s two wins came in consecutive games against Furman and Norfolk State in mid-October.
According to a projection from Interstat, this matchup is expected to be a high-scoring affair, with a simulated final score of Wofford 36, Samford 30. The game represents a critical opportunity for either team to build momentum before facing their final conference opponents in November.
