Lamar at Incarnate Word
SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — A clash of Cardinals is set for Saturday when the Lamar Cardinals visit the Incarnate Word Cardinals at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium.
Lamar (7-1) enters the contest riding a six-game winning streak, most recently a dominant 41-14 road victory over Northwestern State on Oct. 25. The offense is powered by a strong running game, with Xavier Coleman rushing for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Quarterbacks Robert Coleman and Lucas Powell have provided efficient play.
Conversely, Incarnate Word (2-6) looks to snap a three-game skid after a 56-28 loss to UT Rio Grande Valley. Despite the record, UIW’s offense has shown flashes, with quarterbacks EJ Colson and Eddie Lee Marburger combining for 779 passing yards and eight touchdowns in the defeat.
The teams are on opposite trajectories. Lamar’s only loss was a 51-0 season-opening defeat to FBS opponent North Texas, while Incarnate Word has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 46 points during its current losing streak.
Despite the disparity in records, a projection from Interstat favors the home team, simulating a final score of Incarnate Word 42, Lamar 28.
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.
