Alabama State at Prairie View
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Interstat) — A pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference clash is set for Panther Stadium on Saturday as the surging Prairie View A&M Panthers host the high-scoring Alabama State Hornets.
Both teams enter the November 1 contest riding significant momentum. The Hornets (5-2) are coming off a dominant 56-13 road victory over rival Alabama A&M, a game in which quarterback Andrew Body was nearly flawless, accounting for six total touchdowns. The Panthers (6-2) are fresh off a 38-0 shutout of Lincoln (California).
The matchup features two of the SWAC’s most productive offenses. Alabama State, averaging over 41 points per game, is led by the dynamic Body, who passed for 304 yards and five touchdowns while adding 66 rushing yards in his last outing. Prairie View counters with its own potent attack, guided by quarterback Cameron Peters, who threw for 243 yards and two scores in the Panthers’ most recent win.
Defense, however, could be the deciding factor. While Alabama State’s offense has been explosive, the Hornets have also allowed an average of 30 points in their two losses this season. Prairie View’s defense has shown it can be stifling, posting a shutout and holding Southern to just three points in its last two games.
According to a Interstat game simulator, Prairie View is projected to win a shootout, 39-32. The outcome will have major implications in the conference standings as both teams jockey for position in the final month of the regular season.
