Holy Cross at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The struggling Holy Cross Crusaders look to secure their first win of the season when they visit the .500 Richmond Spiders on Saturday at Robins Stadium.

Holy Cross (0-6) is coming off a 59-24 home loss to Harvard on Oct. 4. Quarterback Cal Swanson threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the defeat, but the Crusaders’ defense has been a season-long concern. Their six losses have come by an average of just over 10 points, including three one-possession defeats.

Richmond (3-3) is looking to build momentum after a 24-19 road victory over Colgate on Oct. 11. Spiders quarterback Ashten Snelsire was efficient in that win, completing 13 of 19 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown while adding another score on the ground.

The Spiders have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over their last five games. Their defense, however, has kept them competitive, allowing an average of 19.3 points in their three victories.

According to a Interstat game simulator, Richmond is a narrow favorite, projected to win 25-20. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. EDT.
