Weber State at Portland State
HILLSBORO, Ore. (Interstat) — The Portland State Vikings, still in search of their first win, will host the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium in a Big Sky Conference matchup.
Portland State (0-6) is coming off a bye week following a 35-27 road loss to Eastern Washington on Oct. 4. In that game, quarterback John-Keawe Sagapolutele threw for 302 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings’ season has been defined by offensive struggles, having been shut out twice.
Weber State (2-3) aims to rebound from a 55-27 home loss to Sacramento State last Saturday. The Wildcats’ offense showed flashes, with running back Chauncey Sylvester accounting for 137 all-purpose yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Dijon Jennings adding another score through the air.
Despite the disparity in records, a projection from Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a high-scoring affair, favoring Portland State 42-39. The game represents a critical opportunity for the Vikings to break into the win column, while the Wildcats look to get back to .500 in conference play.
Weber State’s ground game, led by Sylvester and Davion Godley, will be tested against a Portland State defense that has allowed an average of over 44 points per game this season.
