SMU at Clemson
CLEMSON, S.C. (Interstat) — Two teams trending in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the SMU Mustangs visit the Clemson Tigers at Memorial Stadium.
SMU (3-2) enters with momentum, riding a two-game winning streak after a dominant 34-10 victory over Stanford last week. Quarterback Kevin Jennings was efficient, completing 22 of 30 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns, while the backfield tandem of Chris Johnson Jr. and T.J. Harden provided a potent ground attack.
Conversely, Clemson (2-3) is looking to build on its own resounding 41-10 road win at Boston College. Quarterback Cade Klubnik orchestrated the victory, accounting for two touchdowns and 328 total yards. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Tigers.
Despite SMU’s better record and recent form, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 36-18 victory for Clemson. The betting markets, however, tell a different story, installing the Mustangs as a 5.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 50.5 points.
The game will be a key test for both squads as they navigate the middle of their schedules. SMU will look to prove its hot streak is no fluke against a Power Five opponent on the road, while Clemson aims to use its home-field advantage to claw back to .500.
