CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to reverse early-season slides will meet Saturday when the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks host the Tennessee State Tigers at Houck Field.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 1-4 records. The Tigers are looking to rebound from a 31-7 road loss to Eastern Illinois last Saturday. In that game, quarterback Byron McNair was a bright spot, completing 16 of 20 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown.

The Redhawks are coming off a bye week following a 34-10 loss at Tennessee-Martin on Sept. 27. Southeast Missouri State used three quarterbacks in the game, with Johnny Weber, Patrick Heitert and Jax Leatherwood all seeing action.

Despite the similar records, a statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a narrow victory for the home team, predicting a final score of Southeast Missouri State 36, Tennessee State 35.

The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.
