Lamar at Texas A&M-Commerce
COMMERCE, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Lamar squad aims to continue its winning ways when it visits a Texas A&M-Commerce team fresh off its first victory on Saturday.
The Cardinals (4-1) have won four straight since a season-opening loss, including a 24-17 home win over Nicholls State last Saturday. Quarterback Aiden McCown led the way, accounting for two touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground, while passing for 237 yards.
The Lions (1-4) broke into the win column in dominant fashion, routing Northwestern State 40-10. The offensive outburst was a welcome change for a team that averaged just 11.5 points in its first four games.
Despite the records, a projection from Interstat’s game simulator anticipates a close contest, forecasting a 35-29 win for the home-standing Lions.
Lamar’s defense will look to contain a Texas A&M-Commerce offense that found its rhythm, while the Lions face the challenge of slowing a balanced Cardinals attack. The game will kick off at Memorial Stadium.
