Cal Poly at Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. (Interstat) — The undefeated and No. 3-ranked Montana Grizzlies return home to Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Saturday to face a challenging Cal Poly squad looking to play spoiler.

Montana (5-0) is coming off a 42-38 road victory over Idaho State, a game that showcased its explosive offense. Quarterback Keali’i Ah Yat passed for 350 yards and a touchdown, while dynamic playmaker Michael Wortham accounted for three touchdowns, including a receiving score, and tallied 247 all-purpose yards. The Grizzlies’ potent attack has been the cornerstone of their perfect start.

Cal Poly (3-3) arrives in Missoula after a hard-fought 34-27 loss to UC Davis. The Mustangs are led by quarterback Bo Kelly, who threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns and added another score on the ground in that contest. The team has shown resilience, bouncing back from a 35-17 loss to Stephen F. Austin with a 32-24 win over Sacramento State the following week.

The game pits Montana’s high-powered offense against a Cal Poly team that has been inconsistent but capable of putting up points, as evidenced by a 56-point outburst against Western Oregon earlier this season.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Montana is projected to win 42-29. A victory would keep the Grizzlies firmly in the national championship conversation, while the Mustangs aim to pull a major upset and even their season record.
