Stanford at SMU
DALLAS (Interstat) — The SMU Mustangs, riding high after a convincing win, host the Stanford Cardinal in a nonconference matchup Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Stanford (2-3) arrives in Dallas fresh off a 30-29 victory over San Jose State on Sept. 27. Quarterback Ben Gulbranson led the offense, throwing for 444 yards and two touchdowns in the narrow win. The Cardinal have alternated wins and losses over their last four games.
SMU (3-2) is coming off a 31-18 home victory over Syracuse on Oct. 4. Quarterback Kevin Jennings was efficient, completing 29 of 35 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns. The Mustangs’ two losses this season came against Power Five opponents Baylor and TCU.
Despite Stanford’s sub-.500 record, it has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of +17.5. The over/under is 54.5. Interstat’s game simulator, however, projects a close contest with SMU winning 30-28.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Oct. 11.
