Purdue at Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — Two Big Ten teams looking to rebound from decisive losses will meet Saturday when the Minnesota Golden Gophers host the Purdue Boilermakers at Huntington Bank Stadium.
Purdue (2-3) enters the contest following a 43-27 home loss to Illinois last Saturday. Quarterback Ryan Browne led the Boilermakers in the defeat, throwing for 302 yards and a touchdown while adding 22 yards and another score on the ground. The Boilermakers’ offense has shown flashes, but the defense has struggled, surrendering an average of 41 points in their three losses.
Minnesota (3-2) is also coming off a lopsided defeat, falling 42-3 on the road to Ohio State. The Golden Gophers’ offense was stifled, with quarterback Drake Lindsey held to 94 passing yards. The team will look to rediscover its early-season form that produced wins over Rutgers and Buffalo.
Despite Purdue’s losing record, oddsmakers have installed the Boilermakers as a 7.5-point underdog. The over/under is set at 52.5 points. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 30-25 victory for the Golden Gophers.
The game represents a critical juncture for both teams as they navigate the middle of their conference schedules. A win would move the Golden Gophers a step closer to bowl eligibility, while the Boilermakers are in need of a conference victory to stabilize their season.
