Texas at Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Texas team visits a reeling Florida program in a cross-conference showdown Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The Longhorns (3-1) enter with momentum after a dominant 55-0 victory over Sam Houston on Sept. 20. Quarterback Arch Manning was nearly flawless in that win, throwing for 309 yards and three touchdowns while completing 18 of 21 passes.
Conversely, the Gators (1-3) are looking to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 26-7 loss at Miami where the offense struggled. Quarterback DJ Lagway completed just 12 of 23 passes for 61 yards in that contest.
Despite the starkly different trajectories, Florida has been installed as a 6.5-point favorite by oddsmakers. The over/under is set at 42.5 points. A projection from Interstat simulates a narrow 27-23 victory for the Gators.
Texas’s lone blemish is a 14-7 road loss to then-Ohio State. Florida’s only win came in its opener, a 55-0 rout of FCS opponent Long Island University.
The game kicks off at noon EDT on Saturday, Oct. 4.
