Vanderbilt at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) — An undefeated Vanderbilt squad riding a potent offense will face a tested Alabama team coming off a signature win when the Commodores visit the Crimson Tide on Saturday.

Vanderbilt (5-0) is one of the nation’s surprises, averaging 49.2 points per game behind quarterback Diego Pavia. In last week’s 55-35 win over Utah State, Pavia accounted for six touchdowns, throwing for 321 yards and five scores while rushing for 79 yards and another.

The Crimson Tide (3-1) enters with momentum after a 24-21 road victory over then-Georgia. Quarterback Ty Simpson threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns in the win, which marked a significant rebound from Alabama’s season-opening loss to Florida State.

Despite Vanderbilt’s perfect record, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 37-12 Alabama victory. Oddsmakers, however, list the Commodores as 10.5-point underdogs. The over/under is set at 55.5.

The game will be played at Bryant-Denny Stadium, where Alabama has won 15 of its last 16 contests. The matchup begins a difficult stretch for Vanderbilt, which faces LSU, Missouri and Texas in the following weeks. Alabama opens its October schedule at home before a road trip to Missouri next week.
