Penn at Lehigh
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Interstat) — An undefeated Lehigh squad will put its perfect record on the line Saturday when it hosts Penn in a non-conference matchup at Goodman Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks (4-0) are off to their best start since 2009 after a 41-24 road victory over Bucknell last Saturday. Running back Luke Yoder powered the offense, rushing for 174 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Hayden Johnson was efficient, completing 16 of 20 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
Penn (1-0) enters after a narrow 24-21 win at Stonehill. Quakers quarterback Liam O’Brien accounted for 276 yards of total offense and a touchdown, while the rushing duo of Julien Stokes and Sean Williams Jr. combined for 88 yards and two scores on the ground.
The game presents a classic contrast. Lehigh’s high-powered offense, which has averaged over 31 points per game, will test a Penn defense playing its first game against a scholarship FCS opponent. The Quakers will look to control the tempo with their ground game and disrupt Lehigh’s rhythm.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Lehigh is favored to win 29-21.
Following this game, Penn begins its Ivy League schedule by hosting Dartmouth on Oct. 4. Lehigh opens its Patriot League slate the same day, hosting Yale.
