Hawaii at Air Force
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (Interstat) — The Hawaii Warriors look to rebound from a narrow conference loss when they visit the Air Force Falcons in a nonconference matchup Saturday at Falcon Stadium.
Hawaii (3-2) is coming off a 23-21 defeat to Fresno State last Saturday. Quarterback Micah Alejado threw for 219 yards and a touchdown and added 31 yards rushing in the loss. The Warriors’ offense has shown potency, averaging over 30 points per game in their three wins, but was held to just six points in a season-opening road loss to Arizona.
Air Force (1-2) is also seeking to bounce back after a high-scoring 49-37 loss to Boise State. Falcons quarterback Liam Szarka was dynamic in the defeat, passing for 246 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 110 yards and another score. Running back Dylan Carson complemented him with 109 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Despite Air Force’s losing record, the Falcons’ option-based offense presents a unique challenge. They exploded for 49 points in a season-opening win over Bucknell but surrendered the same number in a loss to Utah State.
Interstat’s game simulator projects an Air Force victory, 42-25. However, oddsmakers list Hawaii as a 6.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 53.5 points.
The game is the final nonconference tune-up for both teams before they dive into their respective league schedules. Hawaii next hosts Utah State on Oct. 11, while Air Force travels to face service academy rival Navy on Oct. 4.
