WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Tyriq Starks and Travis Kerney powered Howard to a 34-7 victory over Hampton on Saturday at Greene Stadium. The Bison improved to 2-1 while the Pirates fell to 1-2.

Starks was efficient, completing 12 of 15 passes for 165 yards and adding 27 yards on the ground. Kerney was the workhorse, rushing for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Howard built a 20-7 halftime lead and put the game away with 14 points in the third quarter.

Hampton’s lone score came on a 53-yard touchdown run by Earl Woods III in the fourth quarter. The Pirates’ offense otherwise struggled against the Bison defense.
