Kansas at Oklahoma
NORMAN, Okla. (Interstat) — Oklahoma scored seven runs in the second inning and never looked back, crushing Kansas 13-2 on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in a game that was suspended by weather after three innings and completed the next day.
The Sooners improved to 38-22, while the Jayhawks fell to 45-18. Oklahoma finished with 13 hits; Kansas managed four.
Deiten Lachance led the Oklahoma attack, going 2 for 5 with a two-run homer and four RBIs. Dasan Harris also homered and drove in three runs, finishing 2 for 5. Trey Gambill added a solo homer and two hits.
Xander Mercurius started for Oklahoma and earned the win, working four innings and allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out six. Nate Smithburg followed with 3 2/3 innings of one-hit relief, fanning two. Jackson Cleveland pitched a scoreless ninth.
For Kansas, Tyson LeBlanc homered and had two of the Jayhawks’ four hits, scoring their only run after LeBlanc’s solo shot in the eighth inning. Boede Rahe struck out five in three innings but surrendered three runs on two hits.
The game began under partly cloudy skies with temperatures at 77 degrees and a 10-15 mph wind from the south-southeast. First pitch was at 7:30 p.m. CT.
Kansas grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Jayhawks added a run in the second when Austin Dykhoff singled, advanced on a walk and scored on a single by Jack Bach.
Oklahoma answered emphatically in the bottom of the second. After a single by Gambill and a hit batter, Harris singled to drive in Gambill, tying the game at 2. A wild pitch, a sacrifice bunt that resulted in an error, and a balk put the Sooners ahead 3-2. Brayden Johnson then walked with the bases loaded to force in a run, and Lachance followed with a two-run single to make it 6-2. Later in the inning, Brock was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to push the lead to 7-2. Oklahoma sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning.
The Sooners stretched the lead in the third when Carter Tockey led off with a solo homer to right-center, his eighth of the season, making it 8-2. The game was then suspended due to weather, with play set to resume Monday at 12:02 p.m. CT.
When action resumed, Oklahoma continued to pour it on. In the sixth, Johnson walked, stole second and scored on Lachance’s two-run homer to left, his 15th of the year, extending the lead to 10-2. After a pitching change, Harris launched a two-run homer to right-center, scoring Brock, who had been hit by a pitch, and Oklahoma led 12-2.
Kansas finally broke through in the eighth when LeBlanc led off with a solo homer to left-center, his 25th of the season, cutting the deficit to 12-3. But Gambill answered in the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer of his own, restoring the 13-2 advantage.
Oklahoma’s pitching staff combined to allow just four hits and struck out 12. Mercurius, Smithburg and Cleveland held Kansas scoreless over the final five innings after the Jayhawks’ only earned run.
The win avenged a lopsided loss the day before, when Oklahoma defeated Kansas 8-1 in Lawrence. The Sooners have now won two straight against the Jayhawks after dropping the previous three meetings.
No betting line or over-under was reported for the game.
