AP Sports Preview

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Interstat) — North Carolina hosts East Carolina on Sunday for a non-conference finale at Boshamer Stadium, seeking to complete a series sweep after a 7-5 win Saturday.

The Tar Heels (47-11-1) ride an eight-game win streak in the series dating to last season, with the most recent meeting a back-and-forth victory keyed by Caden Glauber’s relief outing. Glauber worked 4 1/3 scoreless innings Saturday, allowing no hits and two earned runs while striking out eight. The right-hander has been dominant in his past six appearances, registering a 1.69 ERA over 21 innings with 26 strikeouts.

East Carolina (37-23-1) counter’s with Jeff Sabater, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in Saturday’s loss. The left fielder is hitting .333 in his previous four games and drove in six runs across the weekend series.

North Carolina’s offense is powered by catcher Colin Hynek, who homered and drove in three runs Saturday, and second baseman Gavin Gallaher, who added two RBIs. The Tar Heels have won 10 of 12 overall, with their pitching staff posting a 3.12 ERA in that span.

East Carolina has dropped two of three but owns a 5-3 record in one-run games this season. The Pirates beat Tennessee 7-3 in 14 innings on May 29 and swept Florida Atlantic earlier in the month.

Sunday’s game marks the fourth meeting between the in-state rivals in 2026. North Carolina won 10-0 on Feb. 20, then lost 10-3 on Feb. 21 before playing to a 3-3 tie on Feb. 22. The Tar Heels have been installed as a -2.5 favorite per betting lines.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
