Georgia slugs past Liberty with six homers
LYNCHBURG, Va. (Interstat) — Georgia pounded out six home runs Saturday, routing Liberty 6-2 behind a dominant pitching performance. The Bulldogs improved to 48-12, while the Flames fell to 42-20.
Georgia struck first in the top of the first when Jack homered to right center with two runners aboard, giving the Bulldogs a quick 2-0 lead. Liberty answered in the bottom half, scoring twice on a Jaffe J. single and a fielder’s choice that turned into an unearned run on a throwing error.
Georgia’s bats took over from there. Kenny Ishikawa led off the third with a solo homer to right, followed by Ryan Wynn’s solo shot to center. Rylan Lujo added a solo homer in the sixth, and Brennan Hudson crushed another solo homer in the ninth to cap the scoring.
The Bulldogs collected 10 hits, while Liberty managed only three. Matt Scott earned the win on the mound, and Josh Swink took the loss for the Flames. Georgia’s bullpen held Liberty scoreless after the first inning, allowing just three baserunners the rest of the way.
