Arkansas-Little Rock vs. Jacksonville State
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (Interstat) — Jacksonville State (47-13) meets Arkansas-Little Rock (37-26) in a 2026 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship playoff game Saturday at 2 p.m. CDT.
The Gamecocks, the higher-seeded team, enter on a six-game winning streak after routing Virginia 15-7 on Friday. Shortstop Caleb Johnson went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs in that victory. The junior has five hits — including two homers — over his past three games and is hitting .346 for the season.
Arkansas-Little Rock arrives after a 7-4 win over Southern Mississippi on Friday. Right-hander Brannon Westmoreland (5-0, 3.38 ERA in his past five starts) worked five innings, allowing no hits and three runs while striking out five. The Trojans’ offense was powered by left fielder Blake Simpson, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Westmoreland has been dominant: He has not allowed an earned run in two of his past three outings, including a 2.0-inning scoreless relief appearance against Eastern Illinois on May 23.
Jacksonville State’s offense has been productive throughout May. Johnson’s streak includes multiple hits in four of his past six games. First baseman Brady Thomas drove in three runs in Friday’s win, and right-hander Beau Bryans struck out five over 4.1 innings. The Gamecocks averaged 9.5 runs during their active win streak.
The Trojans will counter with their pitching depth. Westmoreland’s command has been sharp since mid-May.
The winner advances in the double-elimination bracket.
