Arkansas vs. Georgia

HOOVER, Ala. (Interstat) — Jack Arcamone drove in four runs and Paul Farley tossed four scoreless innings as top-seeded Georgia routed Arkansas 11-1 in a seven-inning Southeastern Conference tournament game Sunday afternoon at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

The Bulldogs improved to 46-12, while the Razorbacks fell to 39-20.

Georgia seized control in the bottom of the first inning, sending nine batters to the plate and scoring five runs. After Tre Phelps flied out, a walk to Jack and a double by Lujo put runners in scoring position. Hudson followed with an RBI double, Ishikawa singled and reached second on an error by center fielder Maika Niu, plating Hudson. Arcamone then crushed a two-run homer to right field, giving Georgia a 5-1 lead.

Arkansas had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Ruiz grounded out with the bases empty, but the Razorbacks managed only two hits in the frame — singles by Helfrick and Stewart — and left two runners stranded.

Georgia added a run in the second on an RBI single by Jack that scored Phelps, who had doubled. The Bulldogs pushed three more across in the third. Arcamone was hit by a pitch, moved to third on a single by Black and scored on Phelps’ RBI single. Black later scored on a passed ball and throwing error, making it 8-1.

Arkansas’ lone run came in the top of the sixth off reliever Caleb Jameson. Niu led off with a solo home run to center field, his second hit of the game. Niu finished 2 for 3 with a homer and an RBI.

Farley earned the win, allowing six hits over four innings while striking out six without surrendering an earned run. Cole Gibler tossed two hitless innings of relief for Arkansas, striking out two. Steele Eaves and Colin Fisher each recorded scoreless outings for the Razorbacks.

Georgia’s bullpen combined for three scoreless innings. Zach Brown worked a hitless fifth, Jameson allowed one run on one hit in the sixth, and Jordan Stephens struck out two in a perfect seventh.

The game ended after seven innings due to the SEC’s mercy rule, which takes effect when a team leads by at least 10 runs after seven innings.

Arcamone, who entered the game in a 0-for-4 slump in his previous outing at Auburn, went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Phelps added two hits and an RBI. For Arkansas, Niu supplied the only extra-base hit besides a double from Rutenbar.

The Razorbacks managed nine hits but left seven runners on base and struck out 11 times. Georgia finished with 10 hits.

The victory extended Georgia’s winning streak to two games following an 8-7 win over Florida on Saturday. Arkansas had won its previous game, 2-1 at Auburn on Saturday.

Interstat’s ELO system had projected Arkansas with a 54.40 percent probability to win.
