Arkansas tops Auburn 2‑1 behind Helfrick homer, Kozeal single
HOOVER, Ala. (Interstat) — Arkansas scored two runs on a solo homer from Kuhio Helfrick and a go-ahead single from Kozeal to defeat Auburn 2-1 on Saturday at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in a Southeastern Conference contest. The Razorbacks improved to 39-19 overall, while the Tigers fell to 38-19.
Auburn took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when left fielder Bub Terrell homered to right center. Arkansas tied the game in the fifth when Kozeal singled through the right side to drive in Robinett. Helfrick put the Razorbacks ahead for good with a solo homer to left in the eighth.
Arkansas finished with five hits, Auburn had seven. Cooper Dossett earned the win on the mound for the Razorbacks, while Ethan McElvain also pitched. For Auburn, shortstop Brandon McCraine, right fielder Mason McCraine, catcher Lucas Steele, center fielder Bristol Carter and third baseman Eric Guevara contributed at the plate. Pitchers Ryan Hetzler and Alex Petrovic appeared for Auburn.
The victory avenged a series loss to Auburn earlier this season, when the Tigers took two of three in April.
