BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — Jesus Campa and Ryan Young combined on the mound as Florida A&M defeated Southern 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at Jerry D. Young Memorial Field.

The Rattlers (30-22) erased a 1-0 deficit in the second inning when Jackson McKenzie homered to right. Matthew Perez added a sacrifice fly later in the frame. Florida A&M tacked on runs via sacrifice flies by Jay Campbell and Will Brown in the third and fourth innings, respectively, and scored an unearned run on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Southern (26-23) took the lead in the first on Ryan Hunter’s solo homer to right center. Quincy Thornton, Jayden Lawrence, Alexavier Lebron and Rupert Blackwood Jr. pitched for the Jaguars.

Florida A&M outhit Southern 6-5. The game was the second of a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series; the Rattlers won the opener 15-6 on Thursday.
