ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) — Binghamton defeated Maine 7-3 on Saturday at Varsity Field in an America East matchup. The Bearcats improved to 31-20, while the Black Bears fell to 23-32.
Binghamton struck first in the bottom of the second on Steven Kraus’ solo home run. Maine tied it in the third when Brody Rasmussen homered. The Bearcats answered with four runs in the third, highlighted by Matt Bolton’s two-run homer and Zach Anderson’s RBI double. Tim Hennig added an unearned run on a fielding error in the sixth and drove in two more with a double in the eighth.
Maine’s two-run ninth, on Nolan DeAndrade’s RBI double and Quinn Murphy’s run-scoring single, was not enough.
Brady Lesiak earned the win, tossing 3⅓ innings of one-hit relief with two strikeouts and no earned runs. Tommy Martin threw three hitless innings for Maine. Bolton went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs, and Kraus also homered. Rasmussen had a solo shot for the Black Bears.
