San Francisco vs. Pacific

SCOTTSDALE (Interstat) — Jayden Garrison homered and drove in three runs as the San Francisco Dons defeated the Pacific Tigers 10-6 on Friday night at Scottsdale Stadium.

San Francisco improved to 26-29, while Pacific dropped to 24-29-1. The Dons outhit the Tigers 11-13 but capitalized on timely hits and Pacific errors.

Garrison, the game’s top star, went 2 for 3 with a double, a solo home run, three RBIs and two walks. He also scored three times. The center fielder had been 1 for 12 in his previous four games.

Isaiah Landry delivered a 4-for-5 performance with two RBIs, including a two-run double in the ninth inning that stretched the lead to 10-6. TJ Rogers added a three-run homer in the fourth inning, his 12th of the season.

The Dons broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning on Eddison Esquivel’s two-run single, but Pacific answered with three runs in the bottom half. Braeden Schnabel’s two-run triple and Grant MacArthur’s sacrifice fly gave the Tigers a 5-4 lead.

That set up the decisive moment. In the top of the fourth, Garrison reached on a fielding error by first baseman Grant MacArthur. Landry singled, and Jared Lewis reached on a fielder’s choice that put runners at the corners. Rogers then crushed a three-run homer to left field, putting San Francisco ahead 7-5.

Garrison added a solo homer in the sixth inning, his fourth of the season, making it 8-5. Pacific pulled within 8-6 in the bottom of the sixth on Diego Davis’ RBI double.

San Francisco’s pitching staff settled the game. Alan Gonzalez allowed one run on two hits over 2 1/3 innings. Gino Rossi followed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out two without allowing a hit. Quentin Pohorski pitched a scoreless ninth with one strikeout to earn the save.

Pacific’s JT Shank had three hits and an RBI. Regan Carter tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the Tigers, allowing one hit and striking out three.

The Dons capitalized on Pacific miscues early. Garrison’s two-run double in the second inning tied the game 2-2 after the Tigers had taken a 2-0 lead in the first on Shank’s RBI double and Schnabel’s run-scoring single.

San Francisco won for the third time in its last four games after dropping the series opener to Pacific 8-4 on Thursday. The Tigers had won three of the previous four meetings between the teams this season.

Interstat’s game simulator had projected a final score of Pacific 5, San Francisco 4. Interstat’s ELO system gave San Francisco a 59.90 percent probability to win.
