Auburn blanks Texas A&M 7‑0 in SEC tournament
HOOVER, Ala. (Interstat) — Andreas Alvarez pitched five innings of no-hit ball with nine strikeouts as Auburn shut out Texas A&M 7-0 on Friday at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in the Southeastern Conference tournament.
Alvarez, who allowed eight earned runs in his previous start, combined with LJ Cormier on a two-hit shutout. Cormier struck out four over four hitless innings. The Tigers (38-18) collected 11 hits, including home runs by Mason McCraine and Ethin Bingaman. Chase Fralick drove in two runs with a double, and Eric Guevara added an RBI single.
Texas A&M (39-14) managed only two hits and struck out 13 times. Gavin Lyons took the loss, allowing one earned run on two hits in four innings with five strikeouts.
Auburn scored in the first on Terrell B.’s RBI double and erupted for four runs in the second, highlighted by McCraine’s solo homer and Fralick’s two-run double. Bingaman hit a solo shot in the seventh. The win avenged a regular-season series loss to the Aggies.
