Citadel vs. Wofford

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — Wofford hosts Citadel in a Southern Conference midweek clash Wednesday evening at Fluor Field at the West End, with the Terriers looking to snap a recent skid and the Bulldogs aiming to build on a hot streak.

The Terriers (34-20) enter on a 3-7 slide over their last 10 games, most recently falling 13-3 at Samford on Saturday. Wofford, which swept Citadel in a three-game series in early April (5-3, 6-5, 2-0), will turn to a rotation still seeking consistency.

Player to watch: Niko Brini

Center fielder Niko Brini has been a rare bright spot for the Terriers’ lineup. Over his last 10 games, Brini is batting .321 (9-for-28) with one home run and seven RBIs, including a 3-for-4, one-homer, two-RBI performance in Saturday’s loss. He also drove in three runs in a 6-7 loss to Samford on May 14 and has multiple hits in four of his last six contests. Brini will be counted on to spark a Wofford offense that managed just three runs in its last outing.

Citadel’s recent surge

The Bulldogs (30-24) arrive riding a wave of momentum, having won four of their last five after a series sweep at Virginia Military Institute. Citadel capped the sweep with a 12-7 victory Saturday, powered by shortstop Lane Tobin, who went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Pitchers Trip Brown (4.0 IP, 0 H, 3 ER, 1 K) and Bryce Coulter (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 K) combined for six scoreless frames.

Citadel’s offense has been potent recently, averaging 7.8 runs over its last five games, including a 9-2 win at VMI on May 14 and a 7-4, 10-inning triumph May 15. The Bulldogs also own a notable 4-0 shutout of South Carolina on April 28.

Head-to-head history

Wofford holds a clear edge in the 2026 season series, taking all three meetings in April. The Terriers’ pitching held Citadel to a combined eight runs in the series, including a 2-0 shutout in the finale.

Pitching matchups

Neither team has announced a starter. Both bullpens are well-rested, with Citadel’s Coulter and Wofford’s Champ Davis (2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 K in Saturday’s loss) among relievers available.

What’s at stake

For Wofford, a win would halt a three-game losing streak and keep the Terriers in contention for a top seed in the Southern Conference tournament. For Citadel, a victory would mark the Bulldogs’ first win over Wofford in 2026 and bolster their postseason resume.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. EDT.
