Preview: Saint Louis at Fordham, Game 1 of Doubleheader

NEW YORK (Interstat) — Saint Louis visits Fordham on Friday, May 8, 2026, for the first game of a doubleheader at Houlihan Park. First pitch is scheduled for a time to be announced. The weather forecast for game time was unavailable.

The Billikens (17-31) enter the contest on a six-game losing streak, most recently falling 10-1 at Lindenwood on Wednesday. Saint Louis has dropped 10 of its last 11 overall. The Rams (23-26) are coming off a 5-1 loss at Rhode Island on Sunday, snapping a two-game winning streak. Fordham has won four of its last seven.

Players to watch

Saint Louis pitcher Andrew DuMont is expected to see action in the series. The right-hander has pitched primarily in relief this season. In his last appearance Wednesday at Lindenwood, he tossed two scoreless innings, allowing no hits. Over his previous four outings, however, he surrendered eight earned runs in 8 2/3 innings, including three earned in two-thirds of an inning against Lindenwood on April 14. DuMont has not recorded a decision this season.

Fordham pitcher Aidan Dowd has been a reliable arm for the Rams. In his last start Sunday at Rhode Island, he threw six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two, though he took a no-decision in the 5-1 loss. Earlier this season, Dowd earned wins against George Mason (April 26, 3 2/3 IP, 3 ER) and at La Salle (April 18, 6 IP, 1 ER). He has a 2-2 record over his last five appearances.

Saint Louis has struggled offensively and on the mound. In Wednesday’s loss, the Billikens managed only five hits. The pitching staff allowed 10 runs on 13 hits. Over their last five games, Saint Louis has been outscored 44-20. Fordham’s offense has been inconsistent; the Rams scored five or fewer runs in four of their last six games, including a 13-10 loss to Sacred Heart on April 28.
