Navy at Bucknell
LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — Brady Bendik pitched six innings of no-hit baseball and Navy defeated Bucknell 9-4 on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in the first game of a Patriot League doubleheader at Eugene B. Depew Field.
Bendik allowed two unearned runs while striking out seven and walking one, improving his season record. The right-hander did not give up a hit until the seventh inning, when he was replaced after throwing 78 pitches. He had thrown a seven-inning shutout at Holy Cross earlier in the month.
Navy improved to 29-14 overall, while Bucknell fell to 21-21.
The Midshipmen broke open a 2-2 tie with a five-run fifth inning. After Bucknell starter Jake Schultz was lifted, Navy sent nine batters to the plate against three relievers. Andrew Manning drove in a run with a walk, and Chris Klug followed with a two-run single. Manning finished 2 for 2 with three RBIs, and Klug went 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Navy added two more runs in the sixth inning on a run-scoring single by Victor Izquierdo and a run-scoring single by Patrick Walsh, then tacked on an insurance run in the seventh on a run-scoring double by Will Howard.
Bucknell scored two unearned runs in the second inning after an error by Navy shortstop allowed John Calabrese to score. The Bison pulled within 2-1 in the third on a two-run double by Calabrese, who finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Garrett Mathias singled and scored in the third, then singled and drove in a run in the seventh. He went 3 for 4. Ty Lagoni walked and scored on a Mathias single in the seventh, but Bucknell could not mount a further rally.
Navy’s Jackson Clark pitched the seventh inning, allowing one earned run on two hits. Bucknell’s Kobe Julks retired the only batter he faced in the seventh.
The game was the first of a doubleheader after rain postponed the originally scheduled series earlier in the weekend. Navy had beaten Bucknell twice in a three-game series in March, taking a 8-3 win and a 3-1 loss before dropping the series finale 7-3.
Navy earlier this week defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 7-3, while Bucknell lost 9-7 to Penn State on Tuesday.
The Midshipmen have won six of their last seven games. Bucknell has lost three of its last four.
Navy and Bucknell were scheduled to play the second game of the doubleheader later Sunday.
