Eastern Michigan at Oakland
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Eastern Michigan Eagles visit the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in a non-conference baseball matchup at Oakland University Baseball Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature near 68 degrees.
Both clubs enter with struggling overall records. Eastern Michigan (11-26) dropped two of three at home to Western Michigan last weekend, including a 12-3 loss on Sunday. Oakland (9-25) is coming off an 11-6 home loss to Central Michigan on Tuesday.
A player to watch for the Eagles is pitcher Fischer Hendershot. The right-hander has been a frequent contributor out of the bullpen, appearing in seven games since March 27. He tossed 2 1/3 innings of one-run ball in Sunday’s loss and earned the win with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts in a 4-3 victory on April 17.
Oakland will look to third baseman Sam Griffith to spark its offense. Griffith is coming off a productive game Tuesday, going 4 for 5 with three RBIs in the loss to Central Michigan. He also drove in three runs in a win over Milwaukee on April 11.
The Golden Grizzlies won the most recent meeting between the programs, 7-2, on April 23, 2024.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Oakland is projected to win Wednesday’s contest 4-1.
Following this game, Eastern Michigan begins a three-game series at Northern Illinois on Friday. Oakland opens a Horizon League series at Northern Kentucky on Friday.
