Louisville at Eastern Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — The Louisville Cardinals will look to get back on track when they visit the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in a nonconference baseball matchup Tuesday evening.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.
Louisville (17-11) enters having dropped three of its last four, including a 13-7 home loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Cardinals’ offense, which managed just seven runs in the three losses, will aim to reignite against a struggling Colonels pitching staff.
A key catalyst could be catcher George Baker. He provided most of Louisville’s punch Sunday, going 1 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Over his last seven games, Baker has driven in six runs.
Eastern Kentucky (8-20) seeks to halt a four-game skid after losing two of three at Lipscomb over the weekend. The Colonels’ bullpen has been taxed, but reliever Hayden Collins offered a bright spot Sunday, throwing three hitless and scoreless innings with two strikeouts against the Bisons. Collins has allowed just two earned runs over his last 7 2/3 innings of work.
The Cardinals won the previous meeting this season, 6-5 at home on Feb. 25.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Louisville is projected to win 6-3.
Louisville begins Atlantic Coast Conference play at Duke on Thursday. Eastern Kentucky opens a home series against Austin Peay on Thursday.
