Stewart’s Strong Start Powers Pepperdine Past San Diego

MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — Dylan Stewart delivered five dominant innings of one-hit ball, and Trey Dunn’s three-run homer sparked the Pepperdine Waves to a 7-4 victory over the San Diego Toreros on Sunday evening at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

Stewart struck out six and allowed no earned runs to anchor the Waves’ pitching effort. Dunn’s first-inning blast to deep right field gave Pepperdine an early lead it never relinquished. The Toreros rallied to tie the game at 4-4, but Pepperdine scored three unanswered runs, including a go-ahead RBI double by James Dell’Amico in the fifth.

San Diego collected 10 hits but stranded multiple runners. Pepperdine improved to 8-19, while San Diego fell to 9-17.
