SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (Interstat) — Jack Pezzolo and four relievers combined on a five-hit shutout over the final eight innings as UC Davis defeated Cal Poly 8-2 in a Big West Conference baseball game Monday evening.

The Aggies (10-11, 1-2 Big West) snapped a two-game skid to the Mustangs (14-8, 2-1) with a balanced offensive attack, tallying 13 hits. Tyler Howard and Korey Williams each drove in two runs. Pezzolo earned the win with four scoreless innings of relief after starter Carson Turnquist took the loss for Cal Poly.

Cal Poly scored its only runs on sacrifice flies in the first and sixth innings. The Mustangs’ five hits were a season low.
