Holy Cross Holds Off Lehigh in Doubleheader Opener
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Interstat) — Holy Cross built an early six-run lead and its bullpen stifled a Lehigh rally for a 6-4 victory in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
The Crusaders scored four times in the second inning, highlighted by Owen Stelzer’s RBI single, and added two more in the fifth on Ryan Grundy’s two-run double. Lehigh cut the deficit to 6-4 in the fifth on a two-run homer by Owen Walewander but managed only one hit after the third inning.
Holy Cross relievers Jake Lenahan, Pedro Leon and Nick Harnisch combined for 8 1/3 hitless innings. Lenahan earned top star honors with three perfect frames. Holy Cross improved to 8-13, while Lehigh fell to 4-14.
