Western Kentucky at Belmont

Preview: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Belmont Bruins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, riding a three-game winning streak, visit the Belmont Bruins in non-conference baseball action Wednesday.

Western Kentucky (12-8) enters after sweeping a weekend series from Florida International, capped by a 9-3 win Sunday. The Hilltoppers’ offense was powered by Hayden Robbins, who went 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs in the finale. Robbins, a key player to watch, is 6 for 11 over his last four games with two home runs.

Belmont (8-12) looks to rebound from a 12-2 loss at UAB on Sunday. A bright spot in that defeat was reliever Zane Brown, who threw two hitless innings. Brown has been effective out of the bullpen this season, posting four scoreless appearances in his last five outings.

The Hilltoppers have won five of their last seven games. The Bruins have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over their past eight contests.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a close contest, favoring Western Kentucky 6-5.

This is a standalone midweek game for both teams before each begins a three-game weekend series on the road Friday. Western Kentucky travels to Jacksonville State, while Belmont visits Illinois State.
