Huskies Hold Off Texans’ Rally for One-Run Victory
STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Interstat) — Houston Christian built a seven-run lead and withstood a late Tarleton State rally to win 7-6 on Friday night.
The Huskies (9-8) scored all their runs in two big innings. They plated four in the fourth, capped by Jackson’s three-run homer, and added three more in the seventh on Walker’s two-run single.
David Lopez started for Houston Christian with five hitless innings, striking out six. Ben Norton earned the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.
The Texans (11-6) were held hitless until the sixth and trailed 7-2 entering the eighth. Cage McCloud homered in the seventh, and Lorch hit a three-run, unearned homer in the eighth to pull Tarleton State within one. The comeback fell short as the Huskies’ bullpen closed it out.
