Bulls Ride Alicea’s No-Hit Start to Rout Knights in Doubleheader Opener

ORLANDO, Fla. (Interstat) — Edwin Alicea threw six no-hit innings and Nate Earley drove in three runs as South Florida cruised past UCF 9-2 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader at Jay Bergman Field.

Alicea was dominant, striking out two and allowing no hits over six scoreless frames to lead the Bulls. Earley provided immediate support with a two-run homer in the first inning, part of a two-for-four day. Lance Trippel added three RBIs for South Florida, which amassed 13 hits.

The Knights scored both runs in the second on an RBI single by AJ Calise, capitalizing on a South Florida error. UCF starter Max Murray struck out four over three scoreless innings, but the Bulls’ offense erupted against the bullpen.

South Florida improved to 9-2 overall. UCF fell to 4-5.
